Restaurant & Our Eco Garden

Traditional Cappadocia Cuisine, Our organic gardens, and Cooking Classes…

At our hotel, we take pride in offering our guests the best preparation of scrumptious yet healthy food our region has to offer. This necessitates home-grown ingredients and home cooking in order to exercise control over the quality of the ingredients and the process of  preparing them.

As a result, we grow our own fruits and vegetables in our eco-farm located just a short walk away from the hotel, overlooking a valley of fairy chimneys. We use well water for the cleanest irrigation, no pesticides or chemicals. Our guests are welcomed to visit the gardens, pick their own veggies and fruits, and partake in the preparations, if they wish to do so.

Our restaurant food is exclusively supplied from our eco-farm and represents the finest in freshness and quality in home-cooking. What you see and pick at our farm is what you get to eat at our restaurant, prepared lovingly by my mother.

You can enjoy lunch and/or dinner at our restaurant. We offer a menu of local delicacies representative of the village TANDIR cuisine, including:

Vegetable and meat casseroles, home-made flatbread, soups, bulgar meals

TANDIR is the local in-ground ovens we use for generations to prepare our foods. Fire is generated by local fruit tree remnants, exclusively apricot, grape, and some other local trees. These are preferred for the aroma and flavor they impart on the cooking, thus nothing even comes close to it when compared to other BBQ techniques, briquettes etc. It is tedious and labor-intensive to prepare and use, however the end result is what everybody ends up talking and raving about, and why we are written about in all the trade magazines with highest acclaim.

Since the TANDIR preparations take several hours to cook, we require early reservations. You can either call us or place your reservations via our web page.

In addition, for those culinarily inclined, we offer CLASSES in local food preparation right on our premises. You can join my mother as she goes through the preparations of our menu and participate and learn how it’s done the authentic way.

We will be happy to share our family recipes, how to use the ingredients, proper spicing, and cooking techniques with you. You will amaze your friends and family when you get back home and showcase your newly acquired skills. Guaranteed to add a new dimension and depth to your life !

Cappadocia local foods and Cooking class with family.

Cappadocia is famous for its unique and delicious local cuisine, which reflects the rich history and cultural mix of the region. Here are some traditional homemade foods that you might find in Cappadocia and Aravan Evi local restaurant

  1. Testi Kebabı (Pottery Kebab): This is a special dish where meat and vegetables are cooked in a sealed clay pot or jar. The pot is broken open when it's time to serve, making it a fun and dramatic meal.

  2. Mantı: These are Turkish dumplings filled with ground meat (usually beef or lamb), and topped with yogurt, garlic, and a spiced butter sauce. It's often referred to as the Turkish version of ravioli.

  3. Gözleme: A savory traditional Turkish flatbread and pastry dish, made of hand-rolled dough that is lightly brushed with butter and eggs, filled with various toppings, folded, and cooked over a griddle.

  4. Bulgur Pilavı: This is a hearty bulgur wheat pilaf often cooked with vegetables, beans, and spices. It's a staple side dish in the region.

  5. Bamya (Okra Dish): Often cooked as a stew with tomatoes, onions, and spices. It's a popular dish in Turkish homes, especially in Cappadocia.

  6. Kabak Çiçeği Dolması (Stuffed Zucchini Flowers): These are zucchini flowers stuffed with a mixture of rice, spices, and sometimes meat, then cooked in olive oil.

  7. Ayran: A cold yogurt beverage mixed with salt, and often served with meals. It’s very refreshing, especially during the hot summer months.

Each of these dishes offers a taste of the local flavor and tradition that is so integral to Cappadocian culture.
